Blogging Again, Redesigned Again

More than 6 months ago, I proudly announced the return of my website, albeit on a different host, with high hopes of being able to keep the site alive. Fast forward to the present, this is my second blog post. :)

So here I am again, announcing my return. And of course, with a new design. While the old design (now located here for posterity’s sake) was quite OK, it was a bit too complex and broken on mobile web browsers. (Trivia: the old design has a hidden reference to Fedora. Can anyone guess what it is?). So this time around, I opted for something simple and clean. As some would say, “zen”. This has two benefits. First is that the focus is less on the chrome and more on the content. The second, and probably most important to me, is that it works well on any browser, platform, or screen size. You can hardly go wrong when you barely use anything fancy. Of course, I am not a designer, web or otherwise, so I can’t really claim this to be some stunning masterpiece. But it works for me and hope that it’s at least bearable for visitors.

Of course, the site is still a work in progress. I took down the Gallery section because I wasn’t happy with how I hurriedly implemented it. I also have an empty Projects section (with no witty intro as well) that I plan to fill up with references to my projects in FOSS and KDE, as well as some non-software things I have done in the past. I’m hoping to be able to find some ways to integrate with/publish to social networking sites right from the CMS. Oh, and yeah, this site is still built using Textpattern.

I guess I can hope again that I will not relapse into laziness again this time, though my record hasn’t really been stellar. But as they say, “try and try until you die!”
